North KB Carve Kite Ocean Blue
Powerful, responsive and controllable, the Carve provides instant drift in the blink of an eye so you can turn on and off instantly, stay in the pocket longer and stay out of the critical impact zone. With a sensory pivot turn for control and a wide depower range, the Carve gives you the confidence to focus on surfing whether onshore or offshore and everything in between, while strong surf freestyle characteristics allow you to throw strapless freestyle jumps and execute high jumps with ease. Compared to the rest of our North range, the Carve sits further back in the wind window and improves drift on the line, perfect for carving and barrel dipping. 3 x Kitesurfing World Champion Jalou Langeree's kite of choice.
- Two-Stage Arc with Direct Pivot Control
The Carve's responsive two-stage arc design allows for tighter turns without excessive effort. The two-stage arc allows the smoothly curved, efficient center section of the kite to generate power, while the straighter wingtips provide more dynamic steering response. As the arc shape narrows, the kite uses less of its projected area, giving it a smaller turning radius for tighter turns and less pull or power in the turns. The Carve, a narrower span kite, is fast in flight and has less power overall. - NEWLY designed drift
The Carve is a statically balanced, stable kite that resists nose diving. Drift on the line is most important when the wind is onshore. The stronger it gets onshore, the more important it is for the kite to fly forward. A new bridle will ensure that you can maintain drift when you are upwind, the kite will respond and go down the line. But if it's offshore or you're overpowering, the kite now reacts much more when you shear it open, and its ability to fly forward is greatly improved. - NEW improved top performance
Changes to the bridle have improved the upper wind range of the kite. It maintains a linear power delivery and you can still run it a size smaller, but we've traded a little of the bottom end for a significant amount more depower at the top end. Now that we've improved the upper wind range of the kite, you can experience bigger jumps with better hangtime in stronger conditions. This gives strapless freestyle riders the ability to choose a kite that is bigger than what you would use for surfing, yet still has the control and handiness you need for jumps and hangtime for tricks. - NEW low drag bridle with no pulleys
The NEW bridling provides an extremely direct feel for both bar pressure and steering input, with more intuitive feedback from the bar in both directions so you always know where your kite is. The new bridling allows for more responsive steering and pivot turns, limiting the power generated so you can generate less speed in your bottom turns and ride closer to the wave pocket. Our NEW high quality, spliced, pre-stretched bridle lines are pre-stretched and measured before cutting to improve accuracy and consistency. This results in less shrinkage, reduced stretch and improved longevity. Removing ALL pulleys from the bridle improves safety and gives the kite direct and precise handling. The end result is less drag, more accuracy and a more direct feel. - NEW surf resistantconstruction with lighter reinforced canopy
We have maintained the surf resistant construction by replacing the Dacron canopy panels with a NEW lighter and stronger canopy reinforcement material. The reinforcement protects the lighter main inner canopy body and allows for better kite response when steering and depowering. This results in more strength and stretch control, protecting the lighter main inner canopy body and resulting in a durable kite that can hold its profile to increase performance and lift. As the new cloth better conforms to the inflated structure, it creates a smoother, cleaner entry into the profiles. - Refined transition plates with aerodynamic profile
The profile transition plates ensure that when the leading edge expands, stress from the expansion does not migrate into the canopy and a precise lateral profile shape is maintained as close to the leading edge as possible. This creates a smooth transition from the segmented leading edge to the curved canopy, making the profiles more uniform across the entire sash. The panels reduce inconsistencies in the airfoil, resulting in a smoother, more efficient kite with more aerodynamic airflow, more propulsion and stability. - Fast launching curved leading edge design
Allows more surface area in the center of the kite for more efficiency and makes it easier to roll the kite off the water during a critical relaunch in the surf. The Carve is not swept at the trailing edge like a bow kite, but when viewed from the side it is heavily curved and the wingtips are not particularly wide. As a result, much of the usable area is in the center of the kite rather than the wingtip. So even though the Carve has a lower aspect, it is still efficient for its size, and more importantly, the relaunch is super fast. With less leading edge on the water, it doesn't lay flat, so in most cases you don't need to pull on the back line for a quick relaunch, just turn the bar. This is really helpful when you are riding waves and need to relaunch your kite quickly when a set comes. - High Buoyancy Leading Edge Diameter
For a rigid, stable kite frame that requires less inflation pressure. The high volume of air in the leading edge ensures that the kite stays up in white water and is not easily crushed by waves. The larger diameter of the leading edge intentionally creates more drag and helps the kite sit deeper in the pocket. It also allows us to thin out the actual profile in the canopy itself. With less curvature through the main body of the canopy and a larger leading edge design, you end up with less canopy movement or deformation when you run the kite at lower angles of attack or with a smaller canopy width. The kite sits a little further back in the window, so it moves with you as you fly toward it, rather than stopping moving or flying forward and into the front stall. - Duralite Seam Protection
Lightweight reinforcement to protect against rubbing and abrasion along the struts to the leading edge. Thin foam padding is inserted underneath to provide a lightweight, durable buffer that easily lifts the kite off rough surfaces and protects the seams along the struts and leading edge seams. - Personalized performance tuning options
Bar pressure and control momentum can be adjusted at the wingtip, allowing you to fine-tune the kite's characteristics according to your personal preferences. - Premium Teijin D2 Techno Force canopy
D2 ripstop fabric by Teijin. Premium high density canopy material made in Japan using high tenacity polyester yarn for lightness, high tensile strength and endurance. Teijin Techno Force has the highest strength to weight ratio and longest durability in the industry. - Kevlar-reinforced strut system with balance deflectors
For the most accurate and durable connection between the strut and leading edge. Balance deflectors on the leading edge prevent control lines from snagging on the struts. - HyperFlow rapid single point inflation
High volume single point inflation system with larger diameter hose for rapid inflation and deflation. Bayonet-style main inflation valve compatible with most pumps. No adapter required. - NEW kite bag made from recycled PET
Go Green. Our new kite bags are made from fabric that meets the Global Recycling Standard. - Includes kite, bag, repair kit
